I’m on a Boat!

As some of you already know, I’m currently on vacation this week. Cruising the Caribbean aboard the beautiful Celebrity Solstice ship and making stops in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten. So far the trip has been absolutely amazing! I’ll have lots of photos to post soon. :)

2011 SENIORS: Senior season is in full swing! I’ve got several sessions lined up for when I return. If you are a 2011 senior and are interested in applying to become a Tiffany Kelley Photography rep, you must fill out this form ASAP. It seems like just yesterday I was shooting his mom’s maternity pictures. Mentor Session :: St. Louis, Missouri Childrens Portrait Photographer

A couple of weeks ago, I had the honor of hosting a mentor session with an aspiring photographer in St. Louis, MO. As part of the experience, we had a practice photo session with our two lovely models below.

I would love to arrange another weekend of shooting up there and am thinking about setting something up for August if there proves to be enough interest. Sneak Peek :: St. Louis, Missouri Childrens Portrait Photographer

A preview of another photo session shot in St. Louis, MO…. Most of the time when I’m editing, I know immediately whether or not I like an image better in color or in black and white. However, every once in a while I just can’t make up my mind at all. The photo below is one of those cases. What I am sure of though is that I absolutely adore the freckles!

Creativity Bootcamp Challenge

I noticed the other day that a lot of my Flickr friends are participating in what’s called Creativity Bootcamp. It’s a two week exercise that involves a daily “inspiration point, a topic to ponder, a journaling prompt, and a theme for your day’s creative work” using a medium of your choice (ie: photography, sketching, writing, painting, etc.) I think this is a bandwagon I’m going to jump on. Looks fun and inspiring.

Today’s activity is all about revisiting what made you first fall in love with art, and how important it is to not lose that passion. The assignment is to “create in a way you haven’t for years.” So I decided to paint (photo below of my work in progress…) I’m definitely no Picaso. In fact, I’m quite horrible at painting, but I enjoy it and that’s all that matters. Anyone else doing the Creativity Bootcamp challenge?

Sneak Peek :: Branson, Missouri Childrens Portrait Photographer

This week I shot Mason’s 6-month photo session. Well, it was more like three sessions in one because we ended up shooting at three very different locations – the park near the Branson Landing, then a swimming pool, and then finished up on a country road. The result was a wide variety of looks, and so many adorable images that it’s been darn near impossible for me to choose only a select few to post to the blog. So instead of just doing one super long post, I’ve decided to split it up. Here’s a little preview of this 3-in-1 session…

Gratitude

Below is a photo of this evening’s sunset over Tablerock Lake. I thank my lucky stars each day that I get to live somewhere so beautiful. This image is SOOC, which means “straight out of camera” — aka no Photoshop…. It’s part of my new project to start photographing the things in my life that I’m thankful for and that make me happy. I already keep a gratitude journal and this is just sort of an extension of that. Life has been pretty amazing here lately, and I want to make sure that I’m taking the time to really appreciate it.

Kylie :: St. Louis, Missouri Boudoir Photographer

Here are some photos from a session I shot last weekend in St. Louis, MO. Kylie had contacted me a few months ago to see when I’d be in her city next…. I LOVE it when I can line up some work + travel! It’s definitely something I would like to do more often. Lauren & Ben :: Nashville, Tennessee Engagement Session :: Destination Wedding Photographer

This absolutely adorable couple contacted me a few of weeks ago to shoot an engagement session for them. Lauren had read on my blog that I was in Nashville, TN at the time doing disaster relief volunteering after that area’s recent flooding. The couple offered to travel from their hometown of Huntsville, AL to meet up with me in Nashville the evening before I was scheduled to return home. I was so thankful that I had taken my camera gear with me to Tennessee and had the unexpected opportunity to work with this amazing couple!

We shot the session at beautiful Centennial Park, which features a full-size replica of the Parthenon, a lake, and wonderful gardens. Unfortunately, the weather decided it didn’t want to cooperate. It came a downpour of rain right before we started shooting, and it kept sprinkling on and off throughout the entire session. However, with some patience and creativity we just worked with it. I thought the lemons that were used as props were very symbolic of our situation. :) When life gives you lemons…make lemonade…

And that’s just what we did. The result was a romantic session incorporating lots of the incredible vintage props Lauren had brought along. Shooting at the Parthenon provided a grand setting that added a lovely “old world” feel to the images, and the typewriter was the perfect detail for creating the session’s classic mood and ambiance. I hope you enjoy Lauren and Ben’s love story…
