Dogpatch USA was a comic strip inspired theme park located near my small hometown of Jasper, Arkansas. I have only a few childhood memories of going to this park with my family before it shut down many years ago. Now all that’s left of Dogpatch are the remains of the sign and lots of abandoned crumbling buildings. It’s actually quite a depressing sight when you drive by it. One day a few years ago, while I was going past, I noticed the clouds making pretty lines in the sky, and I decided to pull over to the side of the road to snap this photo. I’m so glad I did. It’s probably one of my lifetime favorites. I love it’s retro feel and the color palette it inspires.
